Becoming a surrogate

For some families, the idea of adding a baby to the mix is bittersweet. Some couples cannot create babies on their own and need a little help. Surrogate mothers are the answers to these couples’ dreams.

It takes a special lady to become a surrogate mother. Sure there are the physical, emotional and economical restraints, but it takes something else to become a surrogate. It takes a whole lot of heart. It takes a very special woman to open up her body to help make a couple into a family.

These women sacrifice their own bodies for the sake of others. They want to see other families enjoy the love and comfort only a baby can provide. Surrogate mothers understand the unconditional joy a baby brings, and are ready to spread that happiness to other couples.

Surrogate mothers are selfless and loving. They come to help in times of need. They love being pregnant and want to share the birth of a baby with that special couple ready to expand into becoming a family.

I agree with Conor that you offer a really intneestirg perspective. Ultimately, however, my gut instincts tell me that gay adoption would, if anything, actually encourage women to have abortions.I can't emphasize how much I appreciate this unique perspective you offer. Nonetheless, I think you naively assume that perceptions of gays and lesbians(especially gay and lesbian couples) are much healthier than they really are. The stigmas that surround child-rearing in a gay and lesbian household are endless and are not going away anytime soon. Those stigmas are the product of a homophobic society that imparts an endless array of other misconceptions of gays and lesbians. I fear that these misconceptions are so powerful that mothers would choose abortion over the possibility of offering their kid up for adoption to a gay and lesbian couple. Like I said in the beginning of my comment, I speak only from my gut instincts and would welcome any kind of data that suggests otherwise.

Just sent a copy of your friend's story to soomnee who needed to hear that. Thanks, Case, for all that you do for the kingdom whether it's this blog, cutting hair, photography, being a great mom, or just a kind word. You are such an encouragement to so many people. I hope you receive as many blessings as you give out. Much love.
